In London there are a lot of important buildings.

Tower Bridge: Is above the Thames river in London since 1984 and is one of the most famous bridges in the world. Is built in victorian gothic style. The bridge, was designed by city architect Horace Jones in collaboration with John Wolfe Barry. Tower bridge raisingThe proximity of the harbor and its location in the direction of the sea required for the bridge to allow the passage of large vessels. Hence the decision to create a moveable bridge which can be opened to accommodate boat traffic. You can see wonderful views from the bridge.

Tower of London: It was built at the beginning of the 11th century by William the conqueror. The tower was expanded during the 13th century into the fortified complex that we know today. The Tower's most popular attraction is its famous collection of Crown Jewels. The Tower was built to enforce the power of the king over the newly conquered region.Has been at the same time royal palace and fortress. During his existence has lives a lot of triumphs but also terrible tragedies.

Big Ben: Is the most important tower and also is a symbol of the London city. Measuring 96 meters that has a clock knowned as Big Ben. The clock has 5 bells that sounding every 15 mintues. The clock was the largest in the world and still the largest in Great-Britain. The clockfaces have a diameter of almost 7.5m. The hour hand is 9ft or 2.7m long and the minute hand is 4.25m long. The tower was constructed between 1843 and 1858 as the clock tower of the Palace of Westminster.

Westminster Palace: Is located on the north banck of the Thames river. This palace was used as a royal residence, but since S. XVI nobody lives there. The Palace of Westminster was the principal residence of the kings of England from the middle of the 11th century until 1512. In medieval times kings summoned their courts wherever they happened to be. But by the end of the 14th century the court in all its aspects - administrative, judicial and parliamentary - had its headquarters at Westminster. It Has an gothic style and was built by Charles Barry. The highest tower is Victoria Tower that measuring 98.5 meters.
